Having won an astonishing 187 Grand Slams, Melody (VA '24) is in a league of her own. In terms of that knee injury which had the entire tennis community in a collective gasp, many believed it was the end of her career. However, Melody saw it as an opportunity. Drawing strength from the old Irish proverb, “When life hands you a knee injury, tap dance,” she took up Irish tap dancing. Within weeks, not only was her knee better, but she could now serve at speeds previously recorded only by supersonic jets. In addition, Melody Wu is exiting her retirement to carry out a topic-secret renovation project to turn the entirety of OCSA into a tennis and pickle ball arena because she believes that a proper education isn’t complete without mastering the backhand. This also happens to be Melody’s last year on the school paper–word has it she plans to turn Evolution into an exclusively tennis-related magazine.

Lacole Yang is a senior ('24) in Creative Writing! They enjoy making eye contact with the moon and think of it as their silent and enigmatic muse. Like a moth to the flame, they are drawn to all things purple. They are devoted to the color, and nothing can possibly change their enthusiasm for it. Writing incomprehensible poetry amuses them. Many of their actions are incomprehensible. This is their favorite emoji: 😼.

Kate's life story is parallel to the structure of the finest UK drill songs: a classical background track collided with semi-incomprehensible lyrics but absolute hard-spitting bars.

Jeri Stein is the biggest fight club fan in the world. Jeri Stein once beat up a 40 year old veteran at an Edward Norton meet and greet just to be closer to him. The only thing she loves more than Fight club is the band radiohead. Jeri Stein is in debt due to the sheer amount of money she spent buying a custom made radiohead bass. Jeri Stein is NOT a male manipulator, she just really likes playing bass band Radiohead and fight club. Jeri Stein MIGHT be a male manipulator.

Aadya Sharma is actually many mice stacked on top of each other, masquerading as a senior in Instrumental Music Strings and Orchestra. The mice have eaten through all of her internal organs to make space for themselves. Her heart has been replaced by a mouse. Her lungs have been replaced by two mice. Inside her arms and legs, instead of muscles and tissues, there are just mice lined up in rows. Controlling and coordinating the efforts of all these mice is the Mouse Monarch, nestled inside the space in her skull where a brain should be. They work together to move Aadya's body and make her speak. However, she no longer has the ability to think, because the mice are not capable of higher level reasoning. If you see Aadya staring off into the distance, eyes unfocused and body still, just know that she is NOT zoning out from thinking too much; the Mouse Monarch just fell asleep.

Few humans are aware of Aadya's secret, since the Kingdom of Mice knows better than to reveal themselves to humans. However, they have no other choice now, since they have been captured by the Evolution staff and forced to write articles for their newspaper. Now that the secret is out, the Mouse Monarch hopes that people don't think of Aadya as disgusting and gross. They only hope people think of her as strange and off-putting.
